History and Heritage

As part of the Northbridge area, the Cultural Precinct is rich in architecturally and historically significant buildings in Perth and even Australia. It is home to some of the State’s most significant cultural institutions including the Art Gallery of WA, the State Library and the WA Museum.

Most of the buildings date back to the early days of the city from the Victorian and Federation eras.

The area is one of Perth’s oldest suburbs, and a key objective is to enhance and protect the heritage and cultural values in the area.
